EDLD 5363 Week 5.9 Reflections and Status Report of Internship Activities And Action Research Project

I have currently completed only a few competencies and performance indicators. I am still revising and updating my internship plan, I feel very behind at this time I have only completed 30 hours. There are several Campus-supervised Internship activities that I am still in the process of completing.  I need to work with teachers and curriculum coordinators to complete the data surveys of ASD students. I have worked with the Special Education Teachers to collaborate a time management schedule. I have learned how things work from a Classroom teacher and an Administrators point of view. I have gained valuable knowledge of classroom formats and expectations based on monitoring of current educators, administrative staff, and technology leaders. I have spoken with my resource people who will assist me in accomplishing my objectives.  We have set a projected schedule to meet after Winter break.  I have learned that classroom curriculum is very full; there is very little time to implement lessons outside of the scheduled curriculum.
I have completed most of the data collection portion of the project.  I now need to input the data and analyze it.  The surveys I have collected have been very helpful to my research.  However, as I input the data and begin to analyze it, My Action Research Plan will continue to undergo a few changes. I have compiled a list of ASD Students to monitor for the project.   This project will play an important role in the Special Education Department.  I would like to work more with educators to learn and review up to date trends on various stages of instruction.  I have not shared my findings with the research participants.  My plan is to share my progress through weekly meetings, handouts, and the use of my blog which can easily be revised and modified throughout this process. Modifications will be needed due to the time it takes to acquaint myself with the ASD students. This research could be beneficial for Curriculum and Inclusion Programs District wide.  I feel assured that my data and research will be valuable to my campus, teachers, and students.

EDLD 5363 Week5 Web Conference Reflection

I enjoyed attending the web conferences and try to attend as much as possible. I don't always have a question, but attending the conferences gives me a sense of belonging to the class. On-line classes are great for busy people like me, but you do loose that face-to-face class contact. Dr. Abernathy has done a great job in making me feel welcomed in the class.
During the web conference, Dr. Abernathy was able to answer questions that many of my co-harts had. Some of the questions that were asked were things that I had not even thought of asking. All the information was very useful in finishing up the week's assignment.
Dr. Abernathy made it clear that she wanted us to work together and collaborate on Week 3-5 assignments. I feel very good about my team’s ability to work together.  We have already started on our plan and have already shared on Goggle Docs.
Sunday, December 2, 2012-The class was invited to join reviewers from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. It was very interesting to hear the questions from the reviewers at the event. Some seemed new to the experience of web education. I enjoyed feeling like a fly on the wall and observing the participants at the event.
Sunday, December 9, 2012- Web conference was very helpful many students had questions about the submission of assignments for 4 week. Dr. Abernathy cleared up the confusion by reinforcing that students read the up to date syllabus and Week 4 overview for any questions regarding Week 4 assignments.
One thing that I fine very aggravating about web conferences in my recent courses is that we seem to have many technical difficulties. There have been problems with audio and video Occasionally, the sound system would quit working, but returned ; I hope in the near future that the technical issues get solved .
